Our services include getting you remote second opinions from world-leading experts, answering any questions you may have about medical conditions, and more.
When should I use Grand Rounds?
You’ve received a diagnosis or have been recommended for surgery or a form of treatment. We can provide a medical second opinion from a leading expert specializing in the area of need. For 3 in 5 patients, our experts recommend a change in the diagnosis or treatment.
Who can use Grand Rounds?
Grand Rounds is available to employees and dependents with a self-funded major medical or limited medical plan through their employer. It is not available with preventive benefit plans.
How much will this cost me?
Grand Rounds is available at no additional cost to eligible members. Your health benefit plan terms and provisions will apply for any treatments obtained as a result of the second opinion.
What can I expect from Grand Rounds?
Once you get started with Grand Rounds, a member from your Care Team will reach out to you to learn about your exact needs. They will then take care of collecting your medical records. After you have received a second opinion from a Grand Rounds doctor, your Care Team will follow up with you to answer any questions and make sure your needs have been met.
How does Grand Rounds select its physicians?
Grand Rounds selects physicians based on their education and training, patient outcomes, and location. As a result, we’re able to match you with highly experienced doctors and specialists who are best suited to your personal preferences and medical needs.
What will my doctor think about Grand Rounds reviewing my case?
Most doctors are glad to get another opinion on a complicated medical issue. You should not be concerned about offending your local physician as their primary goal is to help you get better, and this opinion is simply an additional resource. A good way to frame the conversation with your local treating physician regarding the second opinion is:
Will this information go to my employer?
In accordance with HIPAA, any personal health information (PHI) you share with Grand Rounds is confidential and not shared with your employer or any other 3rd party. Your PHI is available only to you, your Care Team, and your Grand Rounds physician.
Is Grand Rounds part of my health benefit plan?
No, Grand Rounds is a value-added service used in conjunction with your health benefit plan. It’s available to members desiring a medical second opinion to help them choose the most appropriate care.
How does Grand Rounds use my SSN?
The last four digits of your SSN are needed to confirm both your identity when creating an account and your eligibility for the Grand Rounds benefit.
What areas does Grand Rounds specialize in?
Grand Rounds physicians span all conditions and specialty areas, including: back and knee pain, cancer, heart disease, arthritis, behavioral health disorders, migraines, digestive system disorders, dermatology, pediatrics, ACL tears, and much more.
How long will it take to receive the second opinion?
A second opinion is typically delivered within 14 days of the initial case submission. This may vary depending on the amount of time needed to collect medical records.
What are your hours of operation?
Someone is available to assist you around the clock. Our full-service staff, including your Care Team, are available from 8:00am to 8:00pm, CT. During the off hours, our customer service team is available to answer your call.
