What is Grand Rounds?
Grand Rounds is a health benefit made available to you by the Concordia Health Plan. We are a primary guide and resource for all your medical and health care-related needs. Our services include finding you the top doctors and specialists in your insurance network, booking doctor’s appointments on your behalf, getting you remote second opinions from world-leading experts, and answering any questions you may have about your health plan, medical conditions, and more.
When should I use Grand Rounds?
Use Grand Rounds when:
- You need a primary care physician or specialist for an in-person visit. We’ll help you find trusted and experienced doctors within your insurance network and can even set the appointment for you.
- You’d like quick answers to medical questions. We can provide you with over-the-phone guidance and support from a Grand Rounds doctor.
- You’re unsure about a diagnosis, or you’ve been recommended surgery as a form of treatment. We can arrange for you to get a remote second opinion from a leading expert specializing in your area of need.
Who can use Grand Rounds?
Grand Rounds is available to eligible* Concordia Health Plan members and their covered dependents. Concordia Plan Services provides this service so that you have access to high-quality medical care and are able to achieve better health outcomes.
*Members in Medicare supplemental coverage are not eligible.
How much will this cost me?
Grand Rounds is fully covered by the Concordia Health Plan and available at no extra cost to you and your covered dependents. Simply enter your information and Grand Rounds will waive all fees. Plan guidelines will apply for any treatments as a result of the Expert Opinion or Office Visit – Grand Rounds will find the doctor, collect all relevant medical records, and (if necessary) schedule the appointment at no cost.
What can I expect from Grand Rounds?
All Grand Rounds services can be easily accessed by calling 1-866-357-9819, visiting www.grandrounds.com/concordiaplans or by downloading the Grand Rounds mobile app. For certain Grand Rounds services, a member from your Care Team will reach out to you to learn about your exact needs. They’ll take care of everything, from finding you the right doctor to collecting your medical records. Expect a care coordinator to follow up with you after you’ve seen the recommended doctor, to answer any questions you may have and start additional cases if needed.
What areas does Grand Rounds specialize in?
Grand Rounds physicians span all conditions and specialty areas, including: back and knee pain, cancer, heart disease, arthritis, behavioral health disorders, migraines, digestive system disorders, dermatology, pediatrics, ACL tears, and much more.
How does Grand Rounds select its physicians?
Grand Rounds selects physicians based on their education and training, patient outcomes, and location. As a result, we’re able to match you with highly experienced doctors and specialists who are best suited to your personal preferences and medical needs.
How much will it cost me to see a recommended doctor?
Typically, you’ll only pay your regular copay and office visit fees for seeing an in-network doctor. For further details, call the Grand Rounds Care Team at 1-866-357-9819, available Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 9:00pm ET.
What will my doctor think about Grand Rounds reviewing my case?
Most doctors are glad to get the opinions of their peers when assessing complicated medical issues. Their primary goal is to get you feeling better. A good way to frame a conversation with your treating physician regarding a Grand Rounds expert opinion is:
- “I requested a consultation about [condition] and here’s what I learned…”
- “Here’s what I was surprised to find out…”
- “Dr. Smith recommended these options for my care because of these reasons…”
Will this information go to my employer?
In accordance with HIPAA, any personal health information (PHI) you share with Grand Rounds is confidential and not shared with your employer or any other 3rd party. Your PHI is available only to you, your Care Team, and your Grand Rounds physician.
Is Grand Rounds part of my insurance?
Grand Rounds is not affiliated with your insurance, and operates separately to guide your ongoing care. The goal of Grand Rounds is to provide you with useful information about your health so that you can make informed decisions about your medical care, and have healthier outcomes overall.
How does Grand Rounds use my SSN?
The last four digits of your SSN are needed to confirm both your identity when creating an account and your eligibility for the Grand Rounds benefit.
